First, we do NOT make wedding dresses. We are professional media company that provides video and photo for weddings and we get asked all of the time what is “Trash the Dress?” A Trash The Dress (TTD) session is an additional session after the wedding with either bride and groom or just the bride. You get dressed up again to go to a different location, typically a beach, and have a creative shoot to trash your wedding dress.

A TTD session is almost a declaration that the wedding is done and the dress will not be used again. It’s an alternative to storing the dress and trying to get your daughter to wear it in 20 years for her wedding. (Yea, sorry, not gonna happen.) The wedding is over and so I say “why not?” But if you don’t want to destroy your dress, what’s the harm in getting it a little dirty. That’s what dry cleaners are for!

Every couple wants tons of great images of them together, but they don’t want to leave their wedding party to do it. A TTD session offers your photographer the opportunity to do just that. Being pulled away from your meticulously planned wedding day to do a photo shoot is not always ideal. TTD provides those fun fashion style images without taking away from your day. Adding a TTD session to your wedding package can only increase your image choices. Plus, it’s fun!

The place of your trash the dress should reflect your interest and personalities. Pick a theme that you enjoy or that has special meaning. Don’t limit your TTD to the beach just because that’s what everyone else is doing. Horseback riding, ocean romping, cemetery dancing, urban allies or a desert scene all make different statements. Pick a place and create images that mean something to you and the beginning of your new life together.

Think outside the box. Go for something more than a pretty backdrop. Rent a cool car or even a small plane. Recreate your first date or go play your favorite sport. Do something fun and interesting, and you’ll have a much better time during your TTD session…and better yet, you’ll love your images even more!
